history, hard work, and a love for the land

How we started
In 1970, my Dad sought refuge from city life, turning this Santa Ynez property into a working space where he raised everything from hay and organic produce to cattle and animals for 4H. It was his dream for the farm to “stay busy,” and after consulting with experts and transitioning the farm to the next generation, the idea of cultivating flowers took root. We've always loved lavender’s floral yet woodsy aroma as well as its diversity for both practical and medicinal purposes. Since lavender plants are both drought-tolerant and well-suited to the Santa Ynez Valley’s Mediterranean climate, a lavender farm turned out to be an ideal fit for Twigg Family Farm.
Anne Twigg, farmer’s daughter and owner at Twigg Family Farms, has lived in the Santa Ynez Valley most of her life and is no stranger to hard work. Her relationship with the land goes back to the days of Saturday chore lists and has continued over decades of working in local food, farming, and wine industries. The farm, once her Dad’s dream, in time became part of her fiber as well. Twigg Family Farm’s lavender is cultivated with care and is rooted in the ethos of generational stewardship. For Anne, it all comes down to a love and respect for the land and all the hands that tended it for decades.
Varieties & Principles
We specialize in Grosso, Riverina Thomas, and Provence varieties, all chosen for their oil content, hardiness, and perfume. Our farm practices sustainability without the organic label, steering clear of pesticides and opting for organic mulching. Hand-harvesting ensures the health of our lavender and the environment, avoiding the potential damage from machinery.
At Twigg Family Farm, we keep it simple—history, hard work, and a love for the land. Join us in celebrating the beauty of lavender in its purest form, where every bloom tells a story of resilience and care.
